The Logan Valley Sams Chapter held their first meeting in the spring of 1989 at a meeting
organized by Roy Stohler. The meeting was held at the Concord/Dixon Senior
Center at which time the group decided to camp out at Scenic Park near South
Sioux City on June 5-6.

The first campout for the group was at Scenic Park near South Sioux City on June 5-6, 1989. At this meeting it was agreed to officially organize a Good Sam Chapter with a name to be chosen later. Officers were elected and dues were set at $10.00 per year. They also agreed to camp on the last Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the month. The officers were instructed to prepare a constitution and by-laws for submission to the State Director and the International Headquarters.
The Logan Valley Sams name was adopted at their June 26-28,1989 campout at Cottonwood Park at Gavins Point. At that time the constitution and by-laws were read and approved.
The chapter patch was adopted at their July 24-26 campout at Niobrara State Park. The patch selected used an outline of the state and the colors yellow, black and red.
On August 28-30, 1989 the group camped at Lewis and Clark State Park near Onawa, Iowa. Special guests were State Director Kermie and Rayoma Andrews. The previously elected officers were installed by Director
Andrews.
The next meeting was held September 25-27, 1989 at Dead Timber Recreation Area. State Director Kermie and Rayoma Andrews and Vernon and Gladys Christofferson. A. J. and Jan Burns also attended and applied for
membership with the chapter.
The next meeting was held at the Black Knight Steakhouse in Wayne on October 24, 1989. At this meeting the official Chapter Charter was displayed to the group. The charter stated that the Logan Valley Sams Chapter was officially organized on October 1, 1989, signed on October 16, 1989 by Susan Bray, Executive Director.
Since that time the group has gathered for six or seven campouts during the summer and three or four meals during the winter.
In 2009 the chapter was recognized for their 20th year anniversary.
At the present time Roy and Shirley Stohler are the only charter members still camping with the group. Other charter members still living are Francis Borg, Clair Stoakes and Laura Stoakes.
