January’s dinner meeting was on the 21st with 12 rigs answering roll call, Charlene Case was our host for the month and did a wonderful job. The tables were decorated with snowmen, which helped set the scene for winter, thanks for doing a great job.

Larry and Rich were the lucky winners of the 50/50.

Leroy and Jeannette gave a report on the cost and the RV Park in Colorado this will be our first campout in April. They traveled to the park and visited with the owners, we need to give them a big thanks for all of their time and efforts in checking out the RV Parks that we are planning on visiting this year. Thanks, a great job.

Bonita Case had surgery on her knee January 16th in Colorado, Harry reported on her condition at the meeting. An update on Bonita’s condition, she is in therapy and doing well, she is using a cane now instead of the walker. We all wish her a speedy recovery.

Our next dinner meeting will be February 18th at six o’clock for the meal and the meeting to follow. Twilla McCarthy will be our host and plans on potluck.

Looking forward to seeing you there and we hope that everyone is having a good winter.

We hope that all of you have a HAPPY VALLENTINES DAY.

MID NEBRASKA SAMS

NOVEMBER – DECEMBER 2011

SKUTTLE BUTT

Bet you have been wondering what the Mid Nebraska Sams have been up to. Well, not much! Some of us are imitating Snow Birds for the winter months which has left some of the other members behind to put up with the cold. But in all we are doing pretty good. Just recently we have lost 2 of our members. The most recent was Doris Junkin. Doris and her husband were one of the original members of the Mid Nebraska Sams. She past away about 2 weeks ago. She did continue to come to a few of our campouts up until mid last year. We enjoyed seeing and visiting with her. She will be missed. One of our other past members, Marta Moyer, past away about a month ago. Marta was diagnosed with ALS about 2 years ago about the same time her husband Bob was diagnosed with cancer. Marta and Bob loved camping and were a bright light at our campouts. Bob continues to struggle with his cancer along with his strong faith in God to help get him through what has been his life now without his precious “Lou” as he would call her. So I would like to dedicate this Skuttle Butt to our departed members and hope that we will see them in the next life.

Our November and December meetings were canceled due to the weather. A few of the die hard members did manage to meet in Holdredge at Phillip Gitchell and Doris Nanfito’s in December. Our January meeting will be on January 21st at the Dam Bar in Rockville, with Chet & Liz Morgan hosting.

Here is a listing of our campout schedule for the 2012 year.

January 21st Dam Bar @ Rockville

February 18th Valentino’s @ Kearney Hosted by Virginia Brittin

March 17th Keno Sports Lounge @ Hastings Hosted by Leola Stone

April 21st Milner’s Home @ Grand Island – Potluck

May 18th Prairie Oasis RV Park @ Henderson

June 4th – 10th Nebraska State Samboree @ Hastings

We may make an extra campout at Windmill Park @ Gibbon during Pow Wow

at the Arch. We will drive from Windmill to the Arch together.

July 20th Methodist Cove @ Alma

August 17th Windmill SRA @ Gibbon

September 21st North Platte for the Rail Fest (TBD)

October 19th Willow Springs @ Burwell

November 10thTBD

December 8th TBD

More updates to follow as we get a little further in the year. We are all looking forward to this years Samboree especially with the theme of “God Bless America”. So we will see you on the highway and by-ways. Remember to travel safe.

Your journeys host, Barbara Milner

Hope you enjoy some our views from the December get together and also of the desert landscape of the Mohave Valley in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Doris Nanfito, Chet & Liz Morgan, Virginia Brittin, Bill Ridgway, Phillip Gitchell

Same as above except Bill changed places with Angie Ridgway to take the picture.

December get together in Holdredge

This is our view from above the bluff over looking Laughlin, Nevada

This happens to be a day when the wind was not blowing us over and making the

coach rock & roll. Otherwise pretty nice weather in the 60′s & 70′s in

Bullhead City, Arizona

Here’s our two little ones (Bella & Kelly) at our daughters in California.

They were left for the day. They never left their perch until we came back.

They look pretty comfortable. Guess Bella wasn’t interested in

food, as she never touched the fruit in the bowl next to her.

Guess they thought that those cushions were put there for them!

Since its New Year’s Eve, I guess I should get started on the December Newsletter. We hope you all had a Merry Christmas with family and friends. Linda and I spent Christmas Eve with my Mother and Christmas day with Linda’s Mother. Now we are looking at a new year coming in.

I was getting bored with the old layout for the newsletter, so we decided to make a couple changes. Hope you like it.

There isn’t much going on in the Chapter this time of year. We had our last meeting of the year andwill be dark until spring. We have our new flagand it’s bought and paid for. The flag is real sharp. We are going to be the classiest Chapter at the State Samboree.

The December meeting was called to order by President, Dot Walsh, at 3:05pm on December 11th with the salute to the flag and Pledge of Allegiance. We had 6 rigs answer roll call and the Jim read the minutes of the last meeting. Jim gave the Treasurer’s report with the state per rig fee being the only expense.

We did not have a 50/50, but Shirley had given Jim the idea of placing a fine on those who did not wear their vest to the meeting. She was the first one topay the fine.

Two City Sams Christmas Party & Meeting

Our annual Christmas Party was held at Piccolo Pete’s on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 with twenty-eight attending. We were honored to have as quests Doug & Carla Gries. Before dinner we all enjoyed greeting and talking with each other. After a delicious meal, our President, Pete Thomas, opened a short business meeting with prayer.

Leonard Schwalm made a motion to pay Liz Wenthe $66.31 to cover the expenses of the party. Dee Kendall seconded and the motion carried.
Our party for next year was brought up for discussion. Dee Kendall made a motion to commit to December 6, 2012 at Piccolo Pete’s again. Bob Hamilton seconded and the motion was passed.

Leonard Schwalm reported that $90.00 was received for the Bellevue Food Bank.

Please note the April. 2012 meeting is the 20th. There was a change in the date to scheduling availability.

Carla, our state director, was then given the floor and explained the new changes that are happening in Good Sams. Also, Carla gave us an update on our upcoming Nebraska samboree. We appreciated all the information Carla shared with us and are looking forward to attending in June, 2012.

Liz Wenthe made a motion for the meeting to close. Leonard Schwalm seconded and Pete Thomas closed with prayer.
Everyone then enjoyed (I think) two games that tested everyone’s memory. It is surprising what you can or cannot remember. Liz Wenthe then closed our Party with a Christmas reading.

Our hope is that everyone has safe travels that are going south for the winter. A promise for those staying here for the winter, we will be getting together for a meal and fellowship together.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.

Respectfully Submitted,
Beth Thomas
Secretary

We want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. It isthe season to give thanks for all the blessings we have received. You all are part of that blessing. Thank you for being a part of our life.

We plan to spend Thanksgiving with both Mothers and Linda’s brother and our niece from Omaha will be here. I will deep fry the turkey so there should be quite a feast. We Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving and are with friends and loved ones this holiday.

We had a fun time at the Gering Library on Veterans Day evening. Linda and I were in the parade that morning and were ready for the chili supper. We made a Crock Pot full of Chili and everyone brought the fixin’s to go with. Those that couldn’t make it sure missed a fun time.

We didn’t make a plan for December, but I am sure we will find an excuse to get together and eat.

November Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Bart after the Pledge of Allegiance. Bart immediately announced that Bobbie Baird has resigned as Chapter Secretary and Jim Vance will fill in as Secretary. There being no Secretary the minutes from last month were not read. We had 5 rigs answered roll call. Jim gave the Treasurers report which was second and it was approved as read.

Dot read a letter from State Director Carla Gries. It encluded our Chapter Roster for 2012 to make any corrections. We also need to send in the per rig fee.

The idea of having a flag made came up and after discussing it a motion was made to order one. It was second and approved.

We spent a lot of time talking about the officer situation in our Chapter and decided to install Dot Walsh as President and wait until spring to install the remaining officers. All other officers will remain as they are until spring.

President Bartow thanked the Vance’s for hosting and cooking the chili for this month.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:20

The only Birthday this month is Tom Walsh - Happy Birthday Tom.

Happy Thanksgiving Y’all Jim & Linda

Our November meeting was held at Roubidoux with 11 rigs
present, Larry & Lurleen were our hosts and did a great job, the tables were
decorated with cute scare-a-crows and nuts cups filled for our enjoyment. Thank you for being great hosts and making
our evening a pleasure.

Our next meeting will be DECEMBER 10, 2011, please remember
we moved the meeting up a week, so that we will be able to enjoy our families
and the Christmas Holiday with all of the activities that go on at this time of
the year. This second Saturday of the
month is also our catered meal; this is a time for all of the cooks to set back
and let someone else do the cooking for a change. Looking forward to seeing all of you there.

Jeannette Schreiner and Roy Austin won the 50/50.

In order for the club to make the campout in July and go too
Lusk, for the Raw Hide Days, it was necessary to change the campout date, it
will be the second weekend in July.
Leroy & Jeannette has asked to please let them know if you will be
camping with the group in July, Jeannette has made 12 reservations as of date,
but they want to make sure that we have enough camp sites reserved to
accommodate everyone. Please call them
on their house phone, the number is 307-532-3660, they also need to know if you
need 30 amps or 50 amp.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, as most of us
have a lot to be thankful for.

same time as usual.
