NOVEMBER – DECEMBER 2011

SKUTTLE BUTT

 

Bet you have been wondering what the Mid Nebraska Sams have been up to. Well, not much!  Some of us are imitating Snow Birds for the winter months which has left some of the other members behind to put up with the cold.  But in all we are doing pretty good.  Just recently we have lost 2 of our members.  The most recent was Doris Junkin.  Doris and her husband were one of the original members of the Mid Nebraska Sams.  She past away about 2 weeks ago.  She did continue to come to a few of our campouts up until mid last year.  We enjoyed seeing and visiting with her.  She will be missed.  One of our other past members, Marta Moyer, past away about a month ago.  Marta was diagnosed with ALS about 2 years ago about the same time her husband Bob was diagnosed with cancer.  Marta and Bob loved camping and were a bright light at our campouts.  Bob continues to struggle with his cancer along with his strong faith in God to help get him through what has been his life now without his precious “Lou” as he would call her.  So I would like to dedicate this Skuttle Butt to our departed members and hope that we will see them in the next life.

 

Our November and December meetings were canceled due to the weather. A few of the die hard members did manage to meet in Holdredge at Phillip Gitchell and Doris Nanfito’s in December.   Our January meeting will be on January 21st at the Dam Bar in Rockville, with Chet & Liz Morgan hosting.

at the Arch.  We will drive from Windmill to the Arch together.

September 21st North Platte for the Rail Fest  (TBD)

More updates to follow as we get a little further in the year.  We are all looking forward to this years Samboree especially with the theme of “God Bless America”.  So we will see you on the highway and by-ways.  Remember to travel safe.

This is our view from above the bluff over looking Laughlin, Nevada

This happens to be a day when the wind was not blowing us over and making the

coach rock & roll.  Otherwise pretty nice weather in the 60′s & 70′s in

Bullhead City, Arizona

Here’s our two little ones (Bella & Kelly) at our daughters in California.

They were left for the day.  They never left their perch until we came back.

They look pretty comfortable.  Guess Bella wasn’t interested in

food, as she never touched the fruit in the bowl next to her.

Guess they thought that those cushions were put there for them!
