Elkhorn Valley Sams April 17,2010
The regular meeting of the Elkhorn Valley Good Sams was held April 17,2010 at Fremont State Lakes Recreation Area. Our meeting was preceded by a potluck dinner with the hosts furnishing beef stew, and drinks. The meeting was opened with prayer by Gerald Bontrager and led by President Mary Bell 18 rigs were present. The minutes were read and approved. The Treasurers report was read and approved.
Mary read correspondence from state president, Fred Hatch. One free registration for the State Samboree being held June 10 through the 13th is being given per club. A drawing was held and Char and Al Beckman won the drawing.Baers won the monthly club drawing.
Jan Rishoi reported that Willow Creek reservations have been made. Thank you Jan. She is now collecting money and reservations for Branched Oak in Sept. at Lincoln. A count was made of those attending The Wilds in August. Two nights are free and the third night is $20 for those wishing to stay the third night.
President Mary Bell reported on the State meeting which was held April 10 and attended by Mary Bell, Beckmans and Rishois. It has been requested that all reservations for Samboree be made via the internet if at all possible. The website address is www.nebraskagoodsams.com.(all lower case) The registration fee is $65 and payable at the gate. An auction will be held for Dogs for Deaf and Special Olympics. Please donate items for this if possible, handcrafted are always nice . Our club will sponsor the Bingo again on Wed. night. Also there will be baskets available from six different clubs to be raffled off. Gerald Bontrager moved that our club sponsor baskets for the raffle. The motion carried and final plans will be made at the May meeting.
Ken and Janet Emken thanked everyone for all the cards and those who attended their 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Donna Hintz thanked everyone for all the cards, visits and calls during her recent and continuing recuperation following major back surgery. Birthdays and Anniversaries were honored.
The next campout is in May at Louisville State Rec. Area. The hosts requested we all bring a recipe to exchange. They will provide ham as the main dish and we are asked to bring side dishes.
Boyd Dose recently audited the treasurer’s books for the dates of Jan. 2009 through March 2010 and reported all was in order.
Mary thanked the hosts for this campout—Ruffs, Coates and Lofgrens. We had fun visiting couple to couple on Sat. pm. We were assigned certain couples so that we could get to know each other better. We were also challenged to complete a NE town game. Meeting then adjourned.
