ELKHORN VALLEY SAMS MAY 15, 2010
The regular meeting of our club was held on May 15 in Louisville, NE. State Recreation Area. There were nineteen rigs represented. The minutes were read and approved with one addendum—When registering by mail for Samboree, please enclose a check for registration.
Correspondence: Reservations are made for Branched Oak. Jan is now colleting money for Scenic Park in So. Sioux City,NE. Only one nights fee is required at this time,of $17.00. Cancellations must be made two weeks in advance.
New Business: Ten couples will be attending Samboree in June in Hastings, NE. It was moved by Betty Bauer to give $100 to Dogs for Deaf and $100 for Special Olympics from the club. This was seconded by Dorothy Peterson and motion carried. So the club will give a total of $245.50 to Dogs for Deaf and $180.00 to Special Olympics. Discussion was held concerning duties and jobs that have been delegated for our club. We have donated items for gift baskets which will be raffled at the Samboree.. The money received for our baskets will go to our club. Door prizes are also being donated by Larry Hintz and Linda Bontrager. Betty Bauer has continued work on our picture scrapbook and will have it displayed at Samboree. On Wed. night there will be entertainment provided by members from individual clubs, so being thinking of what you would like to do.
New business: Members were reminded to hang out their nameplate on the Elkhorn Valley members sign at each campout. If you do not have one, please contact Richard Ruff. He has made them in the past.
Jim Cunningham accepted the duty of Chaplain for the coming year. Betty Bauer and Gerald Bontrager will serve on the nominating committee.
Birthdays and anniversaries for May were honored. Tom and Elsie Saunders won the drawing of $19.
A recipe box was auctioned off and recipe cards were handed out for people to copy recipes that they would like added to a club cook booklet. Elie Saunders was highest bidder for the recipe box.
The meeting adjourned.
A thank you to the hosts, Bells, Bontragers and Cunninghams. A welcome coffee was held Fri. at 3pm, followed by a potluck at 6:15 pm. Three members celebrated their birthdays on this very day. Sat. night we all gathered around the campfire for Whirlpop popcorn and Smores. A good time was had by all.
