First Camp out
The week end of April 17th we had our first camp out of the year at Robidoux RV Park. We had a lot of fun with a good turn out and a surprising number of guests. There was the usual trip(s) to Wal-Mart to fill the list of stuff we forgot to bring. Saturday was on the cool and breezy side so I know there was a lot of Pegs and Jokers going on.
Sunday we woke to warm and sunny weather. Since the pavilion was closed most of us hung out around Tom and Dot’s camper all morning until Tom McCarty decided to go to Runza for lunch. We followed along with several others. After eating we all sat there trying to delay the inevitable drive back to the camp ground and breaking camp to head for home.
This weekend sure gave us the itch for the coming season.
April Supper and Meeting
After the pot luck dinner for April, which was hosted by Dennis and Sharon Gregory, we had our April meeting.
We had a good showing this month with 18 rigs answering roll call. There were a few that couldn’t make the long trip with their camper but showed up with their car. We had several guests this month. Our guests for the evening were Paul and Joyce Schmunk, Dick and Sherry Blaha, Jack and Char Medearis and Ed Schreiner. Welcome to all of you. I believe they were invited by the Bairds and the Bartows. Ed is Leroy and Jeannette Schreiner’s son. It looks like we have four contenders for the last two rig slots. Ohhhh the suspense! Stay tuned.
After Marilyn read the minutes and Jim gave the Treasurer’s report Tom McCarthy made a motion to give Ken $50.00 to help cover expenses for the trip to the state meeting. Sharon gave a report on the two trips the local Special Olympics has coming up in the future. After asking the club to donate $100.00 for each trip, Alvin made a motion and we donated $200.00 to Special Olympics.
Since Bart has become a snowbird we didn’t get around to installing him until this month. Tom McCarty did the honors and we now Have an official President in charge of Vice.
We had a letter from Fred Hatch (our NE Good Sams State Dir) explaining when the spring meeting was to be held. The theme for the state Samboree this year will be hobo days. We will again be doing the backseat driver and helping with horseshoes. Fred also sent a Comp to the state Samboree for a Wagon Wheel Good Sam member in good standing. We had a drawing of those planning to attend and Larry and Lurleen were the winners. Congratulations go out to Larry and Lurleen.
Kathy Gatch from Buckboard Therapeutic Riding Academy was scheduled to attend our meeting to receive a check for $100.00. According to Bobbie she had a prior engagement and will be at our May meeting.
Cindy informed us that the first highway cleanup will be Saturday, May 22nd and there after the fourth Saturday of the month through September. We will meet at Robidoux RV Park at 8:00am.
The 50/50 brought in 47.00 for the club and $23.50 each for the lucky winners Betty Wilhelm and Jack Medaris. The door prize which was donated by Clyde and Bobbie Baird was won by Dennis and Sharon Gregory. Congratulations!
Twilla had the flag cleaned at Ideal Linen. We all thanked her for getting it cleaned.
Sharon and Dennis donated the center pieces and Sharon drew names for center pieces. Winners were Bart and Doris Bartow, Leroy and Jeanette Schreiner, Alvin and Cindy Banghart, Roy and Carolyn Austin and Rich and MaryTaedter.
Thank you Dennis and Sharon Gregory for hosting the pot luck dinner and for donating the table center pieces.
Our May pot luck will be at Box Butte SRA, on the 15th with Leroy and Jeannette Schreiner our hosts. The dinner will be at 12:00 noon with the meeting at 1:00pm. See you there.
HAPPY CAMPING
Linda and Jim
