History

Club started with 24 charter members (13 units). Original membership was limited to 20 units. In 1981 they attended the Samboree in Minden, Ne. for a registration fee of $20.00 per unit. The first jacket patch was 3×5 with outlines of Nebraska & Iowa highlighting Omaha & Council Bluffs. In November 1980, the club changes the patch size to 4×6. The clubs first meeting places where held in the Commercial Federal building at 24th & L streets. The first camp out of 1981 was at Dodge Park.  The  clubs 10th year anniversary was celebrated with a rib dinner, bingo, games, & roasting the president, Leonard Schwalm. Club received a certificate for Adopt-A-Highway, which was for the 2 miles of highway they took as a project.

One fund raiser the club did in 1991 was to clean the cemetery after Memorial Day. Then they took the flowers that were left, cleaned them and sold them in various parking lots for Memorial Day, 1992. This netted $500.00 to be divided between Dogs for the Deaf and Special Olympics. A certificate of recognition was presented to the club as the chapter of the year 1994-1995. The club is still very active today with 16 rigs and 3 more possibilities. We love to gather at different camp sites and talk, eat ,

play games and take in local sites. We have toured museums of all sorts, even a miniature train site.
