Around the Campfire
Jim & Linda – Editors

A big WELCOME to our new members Gary & Verna Price of North Platte. Gary & Verna are good friends of Wanda and came out to the lake and camped with us. After spending the weekend with our merry group, they decided to join us.

We had another fun weekend at Lake Ogallala. This is one of my favorite places to camp, so a couple malfunctions with the RV didn’t dampen my spirits. We all gathered for supper on Friday with the usual shortage of food (not). We all sat around visiting until late and the older folks started heading back to their campers while us younger kids stayed out late. I think it was about 8:30 when we got back to the RV. Had to sleep in ‘til 6:00 because we were out so late.

Saturday morning, we woke up to a lot of wind. I was concerned about putting the flags out but gave it a try and it worked out ok. Ogallala had an event going on so some of our group went into town to take in the action. Luckily the wind calmed before we had the carry in. Once again, we all pigged out. Our meeting followed and then everyone went their own direction to watch the football game.

Sunday comes all too soon with kisses and hugs and then everyone is headed for the dump station.

Dennis called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. We had 9 rigs answer roll call.

Sharon read the minutes from last month. Bob made a motion that we accept minutes as read and Janice second. The motion carried.

Jim gave the treasures report. Bonita made the motion to accept and Curt second. The motion carried.
Bills presented were for fuel to Fall meeting in Hastings.

Old business – Sharon explained what was covered at the fall meeting. We need people to come out and participate and help with the rally.

New Business – We will once again be providing coffee and donuts for the Knights of Columbus Toy Run on Saturday morning. The Gregory’s and Vance’s will supply the donuts and the club will make the coffee.
It’s time to pay your dues for next year. Jim said a few have already paid.
Jeannette asked if the club can pay half the cost of our Christmas party. Someone asked for a motion, so Jeannette made a motion that the club pay half the cost. Janice second the motion and it carried.

LeRoy and Brenda will be our host in October. They are having spaghetti and garlic bread. Please bring a salad or desert for the carry in.

We gave a round of applause to thank Wanda for hosting this campout. THANK YOU WANDA.

Guests at this campout were Denney & Teresa Daves who are friends of Dennis and Sharon. Gary and Verna Price, friends of Wanda. Terri Deines who is Cap & Janice’s daughter.
The 50/50 was won by Marcia and Cap. They both donated it back to the club. Thanks to both of you.
Cap made a motion to adjourn and Bob Second. It was a unanimous vote again.
In October we will be at Rubidoux RV Park the weekend of Oct 18, 19, and 20. See you there.

Holiday Tips for Happy Eating OR How to Eat All You Want and Feel Great!
If you eat something and no one sees you eat it, it has no calories.
If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, the calories in the candy bar are cancelled by the diet drink.
When you eat with someone else, calories don’t count if you don’t eat more than they do.
Food used for medicinal purposes – hot chocolate, chicken soup, toast, cheesecake – never count.
TV-watching foods do not have additional calories because they are part of the entertainment package.
Cookie pieces and half slices of pie and cake contain no calories. The process of breaking and slicing causes calorie leakage.
Things licked off spoons and knives have no calories when you’re in the process of making something that does. For instance – peanut butter on a knife when making a sandwich, or ice cream on a spoon making a sundae.
Foods that have the same color have the same number of calories. Examples: spinach and pistachio ice cream, mushrooms and white chocolate. Note: chocolate is a universal color and may be substituted for any other food.
If you fatten up everyone else around you, it will tend to make you look thinner.
Happy Trails
