June 2018 Newsletter
Around the Campfire – After a hot Friday and nice Saturday, it is cool and raining on Sunday as we are writing the newsletter. Those that went to the state rally had a lot of fun. There was a lot to do and we had good sales at the door prize table. Four nights of entertainment added to all the fun.
At Fort Rob we had a good time. Friday night we met Bob and Marsha and Cap and Janice at the Fort Café for supper. Saturday morning we all gathered at Gary and Karen’s for coffee and donuts while Dennis and Chase went fishing. They got back with a stringer full in time for the noon meal. Our hosts, Gary and Karen, cooked hamburgers on the grille and we all brought the fixin’s. One thing for sure, with this group if you go away hungry you have a problem because there was a bunch of food and it was all good. I nominated them for permanent host but was quickly shut down by Mrs. Larson.
President Dennis Gregory called the meeting to order at Fort Robinson State Park on June 16th at 1:00 pm with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. We had 6 rigs answer roll call.
The minutes of the May meeting was read by Secretary, Sharon Gregory. There were no corrections. A motion was made by Karen to accept as read and seconded by Char. Motion carried.
Treasures report was given by Treasurer, Bob Boots. We had income from the State Rally raffle table and 50/50. There were no bills this month. Motion was made by Char to accept the report and seconded by Karen. Motion carried.
Sharon read a thank you from Special Olympics and Dennis and Sharon thanked everyone who helped at this year’s State Rally.
Old Business – Jim presented the nominations for next year’s officers. They are Dennis Gregory President, Sharon Gregory Secretary, Jim Vance Treasurer and Bob Boots Vice President. We talked about having the monthly host be the Wagonmaster or the President can appoint one. It was tabled until next month for further discussion.
Jim has talked to the Meat Shop for our Christmas dinner. A motion was made by Marsha that the club pay $10.00 towards each member’s meal and the member pay the remaining amount. The motion was seconded by Karen. Motion carried. Our Christmas dinner will be Dec 15th at the Gering Civic Center. We will find out the exact time and menu when it becomes available.
New Business – Sharon notified everyone that the fall state meeting is Aug 25th in Grand Island.
Thank you to our hosts Gary and Karen Larson.
Meeting Adjourned – Char made a motion to adjourn and Karen seconded. Once again it was a unanimous vote.
50/50 was won by Karen Larson and Marsha Boots.
Our next campout will be July 20 – 22 at Chadron State Park. Our hosts, Roger and Donita Weis will have a pot luck at noon on Saturday and the meeting will follow our meal. Most of us will be in campsites numbers 20 to 30. See you there.
Our guests this month were Dennis and Sharon’s daughter Kaylie and grandson Chase and Char’s brother Gary and his wife Carol.

The Bathtub Test
During a visit to the mental asylum, I asked the director how you determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalize.
“Well,” said the director, “we fill a bathtub, then offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the tub….”
“Oh, I understand, I said. “A normal person would use the bucket because it’s bigger than the spoon or teacup.”
“No.” said the director, “A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?”
